Returning to Italy was never part of my plan.
But sometimes, life has a way of pulling you back to where you truly belong.
In 2015, I was lost—freshly graduated, unemployed, and coming out of a long-term relationship.
I felt disconnected from everything around me, including myself.
That’s when a single unexpected email changed the course of my entire life….
An Unexpected Email That Changed Everything
One night, while reading emails from my childhood bedroom, I saw a job offer from Warsaw.
I thought it was spam and shut the laptop. But the next morning, it was still there.
Something told me to look again.
It was real—they wanted me. And I said yes.
Within a month, I had passed all the interviews, signed the offer letter, and was preparing to move abroad.
I didn’t speak a word of English or Polish.
It was the first time I moved abroad, and it was indefinite.
Working Abroad Changed How I Saw Italy
In that international workplace, I realized how deeply loved Italy is.
People adored our language, our food, our loudness, our passion, our lifestyle.
Professionally, I was thriving. But something was still missing: love.
I met someone.
And I made the decision to move back to Italy to start our life together.
Home, but Not Whole
Back in Italy, I focused on building my relationship and a future with my partner.
But inside, something still didn’t feel right.
I began traveling with family and friends, searching for that missing piece—but the feeling remained.
I felt boxed in. Heavy.
A New Chapter: Discovering My Roots
I started helping my mother with her second business—telling the stories of Italians abroad and their descendants.
That changed everything.
I reconnected with the hunger I had when I first left for Warsaw.
We grew the brand, added services, increased revenue, and specialized in genealogy-based travel.
We realized how powerful and emotional these journeys were.
But something still held me back—my relationship.
Choosing Myself Again
Christmas 2022: I ended the relationship.
I moved into my own apartment.
I won a project in my region focused on Roots Tourism, and my career took off again.
2023: The Year of Real Travel
I began traveling for work again.
This time, every journey became a cultural and emotional exploration.
Among Italian communities abroad, I saw an extraordinary love for our land and our heritage.
I learned that travelers are tired of tourist traps.
They want the real Italy—the one we live and breathe every day.
They want to eat like us, speak like us, connect with the stories behind every dish, every street, every ancestor.
Standing in My Power
At 34, I had finally found my place in the world.
One of the most fulfilling moments?
🎥 Being interviewed by RAI about my Roots Tourism project.
🌍 Speaking in São Paulo as an expert in the field.
🇺🇸 Talking about family history and genealogy in New York during Columbus Day Week.
🇮🇹 Being selected as a speaker for RootsTech Italy 2025.
Why I’m Here, Now
In 2024, I took four intercontinental trips and countless journeys across Italy.
Friends kept telling me,
“I follow your stories to discover new places I’d never know about otherwise.”
And that’s when it hit me.
👉 It’s time to share my journey with all of you.
Through this blog, I’ll take you with me—to the Italy you won’t find in glossy brochures, but in villages, flavors, rituals, and lives.
Because travel isn’t just about going far.
It’s about going deep.
Back into our roots.
And back to ourselves.
